International Students

UNILAG warmly receives international students into programmes across its campuses. The International students are given priority when it comes to accommodation and their interests are always taken into consideration by the University authorities to ensure their smooth stay in UNILAG. There is also a body composed of all international students (both undergraduate and postgraduate) in collaboration with the Office of International Relations of the University to protect and promote their interests on the campuses.

Immigration Requirements for International Students

Before Visa is received:

  1. Be admitted to the University of Lagos as a degree-seeking student or for a special programme which must be a full course of study.

  2. Submit original financial support documents from sponsor such a sbank ststements, proof of employment with yearly earnings indicating adequate liquid assets to support student for one academic year (required for initial entry students and transfer students).

    Financial support should be at least equal to the amount of money that appears on the document student takes to the Nigeria Embassy in their country to apply for a visa.

  3. Submit original letter(s) of willingness to support student, completed by the sponsor along with financial documents (required of initial entry students and transfer students). Sponsors can be the student, parents, family, friends, business, University of Lagos or a combination of the above.

  4. Prospective International students should make contact with the Nigeria Immigration Service through the contact details below:

After Visa is received:

  1. Please submit a copy of the following to the University of Lagos: passport picture page and name page, other visas or immigration documents that have previously been issued to the student.

  2. Complete the International Student Arrival Form at www.unilag.edu.ng at least two weeks before your arrival date. All International students are required to complete this form
